                        Access Statement

Introduction

At BRUNLEA we aim to provide comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation and to cater for all the needs of our guests. We will always do our best to satisfy the expectations of all our visitors.  Please let us know if you have any particular requirements that we can help with.  It should be noted that BRUNLEA was originally TWO Victorian Town Houses built on three floors and the building retains many of it’s original features which are not always as found in more modern houses.

The following information is provided to help in deciding if BRUNLEA is suitable for your needs.

Pre-Arrival

  • Keswick’s main Bus Terminus is approx 5 minutes level walk from BRUNLEA.
  • A Taxi service is available.
  • Penrith is the closest Rail Station, which is approx 18 miles away.
  • Regular Bus services are available. (www.stagecoachbus.com)

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • We ask all guests to contact us to advise your anticipated arrival time, so that we can be here to greet you.
  • There are no parking restrictions on Stanger Street but please note that during busy periods it may not be possible to park immediately outside the property.
  • Local Town Centre Car parks are all within 5 mins walk away from Brun Lea.
  • We are always happy to assist guests with luggage, if necessary.
  • Keswick Town Centre is approximately 1-2 minutes walk.

Main Entrance & Reception

  • Our Front door Guest Entrance is on to Stanger Street.
  • The front door is usually locked but Guests are supplied with a key
  • The front door is approx 800mm wide
  • Our Hallway (W1060mm x L4900mm) leads to the main staircase.
  • The dining room is to the left as you enter.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

All our bedrooms are located on the first and second floor

  • All the floor areas on Hallway, Dining Room, Stairs & Bedrooms are carpeted.
  • All Bathrooms and WC's are tiled, for ease of cleaning
  • We do not have a Guest Lounge but all rooms have chairs and colour TV.
  • The dining room is located on the ground floor and accessed from the hallway.

Public Areas - WC

  • 6 Bedrooms have en-suite facilities and our 2 Standard Rooms have the use of the 2 bathrooms
    and 3 toilets on the same floor (1st)

Dining Room

  • Breakfast is served in the Dining Room on the ground floor.
  • Most of our tables are set for two but we can also sit groups of four & six together if required.
  • We do our best to cater for all tastes and needs but please let us know if you have any particular requirements.

Laundry

  • We cannot offer laundry facilities but an iron and ironing board is available for guests use.
  • There is a Public Launderette 100yards from the house.
  • Towels are supplied in the rooms
Bedrooms

We have a total of 8 letting bedrooms, 4
on the first floor and 4 on the second floor.
  • All rooms have central heating radiators with temperature control.
  • Complimentary Tea/coffee-making facilities are provided.
  • Hairdryers
  • Televisions with remote control is provided.
  • Clock radio alarms

First Floor Bedroom

There are 14 stairs leading to the first floor bedrooms, bathrooms and toilets.

  • The stairs are 190mm high, 220mm deep and 830mm wide there is a banister to the left hand side.

  • There are 15 stairs leading up to the 2nd floor 190mm high 220mm deep and 830mm wide.

Additional Information

  • Mobile phone service is generally available throughout the house but Public Phone box is 100 yards away at the Post Office.
  • We operate a no smoking policy throughout all parts of the house.
  • A fire alarm is fitted with call points, throughout all parts of the house.
  • Fire Extinguishers are available on all floors.
  • A high pitch siren sounds if evacuation is needed.
  • All rooms have Emergency instructions on back of Bedroom door.
  • We have a limited amount of space in our fridge for medications and other special needs on request.
